Our data and privacy policy

During the course of our activities the UK Grand Priory of the Order of St. George (‘the Order’) will process members’ and supporters’ personal data (which may be held on paper, electronically, or otherwise).

These data are held to enable the Order to communicate with members and supporters in order to inform them of the Order’s meetings and activities, and for membership processing purposes.

We recognize the need to treat these in an appropriate and lawful manner, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Personal data held will be primarily that supplied by members on consent forms, membership applications (‘petitions’) correspondence emails and otherwise.

Use of personal data by the Order will be for sending members and supporters details of meetings and activities, internal record keeping, and administration.

For the purposes of this notice, communications with the Grand Commandery of the Americas of the Order of St. George are to be considered internal communications.

Communications will be sent to members/supporters where possible electronically or failing that by post or telephone, but only to the address preferred by the member.

Sharing of data will not take place with any other person or body without explicit consent.

Members have the right to:

  • Ask the Order for access to, correction, or deletion of their individual data
  • Restrict the data provided
  • Opt out of any specific form of communication
  • Request the transfer of their individual data to third parties
  • Make complaints to the Information Commissioner’s Office

General information

The legal bases for processing personal data are that it is necessary for the pursuit of the Order’s legitimate interests, coupled with members’/supporters’ consents, as stipulated by the GDPR.

Members of the Management Committee of the Order may have access to members’ and supporters’ data when needful for administrative purposes.

The Order will retain the personal data of members during their membership and for not more than 15 months after the expiry of their subscription period.

Please see the Information Commissioner's Office website for more information about GDPR and your rights
