Mike Doak - in memoriam

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of the Chevalier Michael Doak, KCStG, CLJ, Grand Custodian of the Insignia of the Order of St. George. Mike had been very ill over the last few years and had suffered from heart and lung problems for a considerable period of time.

He was a senior member of our Order and was keenly involved in all sorts of army charity relief organisations, with British Army comrades associations, The Knights Templar and other chivalric and masonic bodies.

He was an open, kind and engaging soul, a tireless worker for the betterment of society and a true patriot, both in heart and action. He served his country as a tank driver in Germany and after retirement from the Army he found a new outlet for his driving skills as a driver for London Buses on routes in central and northern London; he would often joke that he pulled buses out of lanes as if he were still driving tanks, nothing was going to stop him! .

He will be sorely missed by his wife Ann their family and friends, but will no doubt also be remembered by all that knew him with fondness and great affection. Our love, sympathy and prayers are with Ann at this difficult and sad time.
