As Putin’s invasion of Ukraine continues to horrify the world, we are now witnessing a humanitarian crisis unfolding not only in Ukraine, but in neighbouring countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova and Romania.

To focus our efforts where they will be most effective, the Order’s Ukraine Emergency Appeal is primarily supporting relief work in Moldova, where there are already over 100,000 refugees, with more arriving every day.

St. George is the Patron Saint of Moldova.

We will be supporting the work of ChildAid, a Christian charity with a long track record of working in Moldova, Ukraine, and throughout the region. ChildAid are working closely with the authorities in Moldova to provide what assistance they can, particularly offering support for children coming over who are living with disabilities, which is their core expertise. ChildAid’s own centres have been converted into accommodation for refugees – and even some children whom ChildAid normally support are offering to help the newly arrived Ukrainian refugees.

We will be helping support the needs of refugees including:

  • helping families who have opened their homes to refugees
  • parcels of food and clothing
  • sanitary and personal hygiene packs
  • bedding
  • help with transport to safer areas
  • starting to address psychological trauma through befriending, fun distractions, and prayer

Your support is needed now, to prevent a generation of broken and shattered lives.
